How to Request to Join a Community Network

Last updated: September 12, 2026

Community Networks group partner organizations, events, and resources around a specific community, enabling organizations working in the same area to see each other, coordinate before and after a disaster, and share local events and resources — instead of everyone working in isolation.

Here's how to request to join one on behalf of your organization.

Option 1 — from your network memberships page

  1. Go to My Network Memberships.
  2. Click Request to Join Network.
  3. In the dialog, choose from the list of available networks your organization hasn't already joined.
  4. Submit your request.

Option 2 — from a specific network's page

  1. Browse networks at the Networks directory.
  2. Open the network you're interested in.
  3. Click Request to Join [Network Name] on that network's page.

A note on why you might only see Option 1 for a particular network: some networks are set up to link straight out to their own external website when you click on them in the directory, instead of opening a Serve Source page for that network. If a network works that way, its own "Request to Join" button won't be reachable from the directory — My Network Memberships will always work regardless, since it lists every available network directly.

Either way, your request is reviewed before your organization becomes a full member of the network. Once approved, you'll be able to share and see community events and resources specific to that network.
