How to Claim an Existing Organization

Last updated: September 12, 2026

Serve Source sometimes creates or maintains an organization's profile before that organization has an account — for example, if we're already connected with you, or believe your work is mission-aligned and want to help amplify it. Claiming lets your own organization take direct ownership of that profile: correcting anything that needs it and managing your own responses going forward, instead of relying on Serve Source staff to do it on your behalf.

If that's your organization, here's how to take it over.

  1. Create your account, ideally using your organization's own email address (or log in, if you already have one).
  2. Go to Get Started With Your Organization.
  3. Choose "I'm using my organization email" (if you signed up with your organization's email) or "My organization has a website/domain" (if you signed up with a personal email but your organization has its own website).
  4. Serve Source checks whether your email domain matches an organization already in our system:
    • If it does, you'll be asked to verify a code sent to your email, and a Join Request is created for that existing organization instead of a new one.
    • Once verified, your request moves to pending admin approval — you'll see a "Join Request Submitted" confirmation.
  5. Serve Source staff review and approve the request, after which you'll have access to manage that organization's profile, locations, and responses — see How to Update My Organization Profile and Organization Locations.

If your organization doesn't have a matching email domain on file (for example, a small organization without its own website), choose "My organization doesn't have a website/domain or I don't have access to it" instead, and a staff member will manually verify your connection to the organization.

You can also always reach out directly at info@servesource.org if you believe an organization profile represents your organization and you're having trouble claiming it through the site.
