How to Use the Interactive Disaster Response Map

Last updated: September 12, 2026

The map on a disaster's page shows, at a glance, exactly where response efforts are happening — enabling anyone, survivor, volunteer, church, or partner organization, to see it visually instead of reading through a long list.

Filtering what you see

  1. Click Advanced Filters & Search above the map to reveal the filter panel.
  2. Narrow the map down by:
    • Organization Type — Churches, Faith-Based Orgs, Community Orgs, Government
    • Service Type — the specific kinds of help being offered
    • Filter by Organization — a search box to find and select one or more specific organizations by name
  3. The map (and the response list below it) updates to reflect your filters immediately.

Clicking a map pin

Click any pin to open a detail panel with information about that response or location — the organization responding, what they're offering, and how to get in touch or learn more.

Enlarging the map

Click the expand icon (in the map's corner) to grow the map to full size for a closer look; click it again (now showing as a minimize icon) to return to the normal view.

Once you've got the map filtered exactly the way you want it, you can share that exact view with someone else — see How to Share a Filtered Response Map Link.
