Repeated rounds of heavy rain caused deadly flash flooding across Kentucky beginning June 27, 2026, with some areas receiving more than 10 inches of rain . At least four people were killed, including three in Madison County and one in Jackson County , and emergency crews conducted multiple water rescues from homes and vehicles. Richmond and Madison County were among the hardest-hit areas, with flooded homes, road closures, displaced residents, and emergency sheltering opened; additional flooding, evacuations, and emergency declarations were reported in Bullitt, Meade, Mercer, Spencer, Clinton, Cumberland, and Metcalfe counties . State officials reported roads and bridges washed out or underwater.
