Repeated rounds of heavy rain caused deadly flash flooding across Kentucky beginning June 27, 2026, with some areas receiving more than 10 inches of rain. At least four people were killed, including three in Madison County and one in Jackson County, and emergency crews conducted multiple water rescues from homes and vehicles.
Richmond and Madison County were among the hardest-hit areas, with flooded homes, road closures, displaced residents, and emergency sheltering opened; additional flooding, evacuations, and emergency declarations were reported in Bullitt, Meade, Mercer, Spencer, Clinton, Cumberland, and Metcalfe counties. State officials reported roads and bridges washed out or underwater.
