Our SamaritansPurse Emergency Field Hospital, equipped with two operating rooms, 56 patient beds, a critical care unit, pharmacy, and laboratory is up and running in La Guaira, Venezuela, where two major earthquakes left catastrophic damage. We plan on being there for some time. The need is huge. Multiple hospitals are damaged or overwhelmed, roads have been split wide open, and hundreds of buildings have collapsed. People are living on the streets—terrified of aftershocks. Please continue to pray for the people of Venezuela, especially around hard-hit Caracas and La Guaira. Samaritan’s Purse sent a 767 cargo aircraft on April 18, from Greensboro Airlift Response Center in North Carolina with 40 tons of relief including clean water systems, shelter material, and solar lights. A Disaster Assistance Response Team will work alongside local Operation Christmas Child church partners to get relief to those who need it most. A second flight will will carry materials for an outpatient medical clinic and bring solar lights, generators, jerry cans, blankets, and shelter plastic.
