
Appleton–Menasha Wisconsin Tornado July 2026
A powerful tornado struck the Fox Cities region of northeastern Wisconsin on July 27, causing widespread destruction across Appleton, Menasha, Fox Crossing, and surrounding communities in Outagamie and Winnebago counties.
The National Weather Service has assigned the tornado a preliminary EF3 rating, with estimated peak winds of 140 mph. The tornado remained on the ground for more than 20 minutes, traveled approximately 12 miles, and reached nearly one mile wide, making it the strongest tornado to impact Outagamie and Winnebago counties since 1984.
FOX Weather reported catastrophic damage throughout the Fox Valley, describing neighborhoods with destroyed homes, overturned vehicles, snapped utility poles, and thousands of downed trees. Storm survey teams continue evaluating the full extent of the damage while local officials work to restore essential services.

Foursquare Church in Menasha is coordinating a localized response in the Menasha and Appleton. The local team is connecting with the congregation, coordinating with nearby churches, and reaching out to city leadership and volunteer coordination at the EOC. The church has space to potentially host people or cleanup teams and has great access to community partnerships. Volunteers will assist homeowners affected by recent tornadoes and will help in Jesus' Name with debris cleanup, chainsaw work and some roof tarping. There will be opportunities for overnight and day volunteers. No skills are necessary prior to serving. Volunteers will be led and instructed by experienced team leads. Mercy Chefs
Mercy Chefs is deployed to Wisconsin to serve families impacted by the devastating EF3 tornado that tore through communities including Appleton, Menasha, and Neenah. Serving meals July 30th at 4PM and beginning July 31st, lunch from 11 AM to 1 PM and dinner from 4 to 6 PM. The EF3 tornado had peak winds reaching 140 mph and remained on the ground for nearly 12 miles, carving a path of widespread destruction through communities across east-central Wisconsin. Thousands remain without power, and many families are without reliable access to clean water, making it difficult to prepare meals at home. Our team is serving hot, chef-prepared meals to families, first responders, and volunteers working in the hardest-hit communities.
