A high-end EF2, possibly multi-vortex tornado struck Lena, Illinois on Friday afternoon, April 17, 2026, with estimated peak winds around 130 mph and an 8.5-mile path and affecting a community of almost 3,000 people . The worst damage was on Grove Street, where three homes lost their entire roof structure and two others had partial exterior wall collapses. The tornado uprooted and snapped trees, damaged roofs and siding, downed power lines, and left roads impassable with debris, prompting restricted access while cleanup continued.
Volunteers will assist homeowners affected by recent tornadoes and will help in Jesus' Name with debris cleanup, roof tarping, tree work and mudout. There will be opportunities for overnight and day volunteers. No skills are necessary prior to serving. Volunteers will be led and instructed by experienced team leads.
