Mineral Wells, Texas Storm | April 28, 2026 Initial Assessment Report An impactful severe storm, including a possible tornado, moved through the Mineral Wells area on the evening of April 28, causing significant damage across both residential and commercial areas. Current Assessment (Partner Reports) Initial reports from partners on the ground indicate: Injuries: At least 2 transported to hospitals; additional minor injuries treated on-site Approximately 25-40 homes have sustained significant damage , with some structures heavily impacted and families potentially displaced. The majority of visible damage is to commercial structures , consistent with current news footage showing widespread impact to businesses, warehouses, and retail properties. Damage is concentrated along key corridors, including areas near Highway 180 and the Fort Wolters region , where strong winds or a possible tornado caused structural failures, debris fields, and utility disruptions. Downed power lines, damaged roofs, broken windows, and debris are creating hazardous conditions in impacted zones. Note : At this time, damage assessments are still ongoing, and numbers are expected to evolve as additional areas are surveyed. Operational Observations Commercial impact is high , which may affect local employment, supply chains, and community recovery timelines. Residential impact is moderate but significant , with focused pockets of severe damage requiring immediate attention. Potentially 2 neigborhoods and a mobile home park Access and safety challenges remain due to debris, unstable structures, and utility hazards.
