Three Rivers, Michigan tornado impact summary: A confirmed tornado moved through the Three Rivers/Centreville area of St. Joseph County on the afternoon of Friday, March 6, 2026. The National Weather Service described it as a “ large and extremely dangerous tornado ” and said it was moving northeast at about 40 mph when damage reports began coming in from Three Rivers. Preliminary reports are that there were 3 casualties and 12 people injured. Preliminary impacts reported so far: Initial reports of tree damage, building collapse, heavy damage to commercial buildings - including a local High school taking a direct impact. Significant damage has been reported on the southwest side of Three Rivers. Local reporting said the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado in St. Joseph County. Additional storm damage reports from the broader area included a damaged home on Conrad Road and toppled trees, though that specific report was in nearby Cass County rather than inside Three Rivers itself. St. Joseph County also had the highest outage total in Michigan shortly after the storm, with about 5,118 homes and businesses without power, or about 19.4% of customers in the county. Samaritan's Purse

Volunteers will assist homeowners affected by recent tornadoes and will help in Jesus' Name with content recovery, debris cleanup, roof tarping, and tree work. There will be opportunities for overnight and day volunteers. No skills are necessary prior to serving. Volunteers will be led and instructed by experienced team leads. Overnight volunteers can begin arriving on Monday, March 9.
