Caney Oklahoma Tornado April 2026

A high-end EF2 tornado struck southern Atoka County, Oklahoma, on April 28, tracking from south of Boggy Depot State Park through the Caney/Bentley area toward Lane. The National Weather Service estimated peak winds of 130 mph , with a 21.5-mile path and maximum width of 1,000 yards ; damage included a destroyed mobile home, roof damage to multiple homes, damaged barns and campers, snapped/uprooted trees, and bent high-tension power poles. Local reporting said at least two dozen homes, campers, and structures were damaged in Caney and Bentley, but no injuries were reported. Atoka County Emergency Management conducted damage assessments, roads were cleared by Wednesday evening, and disaster relief centers were established at Lane Baptist Church and Voca Baptist Church for impacted residents.
